Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Overview
Tune is a desktop application for Windows and macOS that rewrites selected text using AI.
This policy explains what data Tune collects, processes, and stores.
2. Text Processing
When you trigger a rewrite, your selected text is sent to the Tune proxy server. The proxy server forwards your text to OpenAI's API (gpt-4o-mini) for processing. The rewritten text is returned to your device and placed in the clipboard.
Neither the Tune proxy server nor the Tune application stores your text. Text is processed in memory only and discarded after the response is returned.
The Tune proxy server does not log the content of rewrite requests or responses.
OpenAI's data usage policies apply to text processed by their API. See OpenAI's privacy policy for details.
By using Tune's rewrite functionality, you acknowledge that your selected text will be transmitted to OpenAI for processing.
3. What We Store on Your Device
Configuration file (config.json): Contains your settings, preset definitions, and display preferences. No user text is stored here.
License information (license.json): Contains license activation status and metadata. No payment information is stored here.
License key: Stored in your operating system's credential manager (macOS Keychain / Windows Credential Manager), never in plaintext files.
No rewrite history. Tune does not persist any text you have rewritten, by design.
Undo buffer: The most recent pre-rewrite text is held in application memory (RAM) only. It is never written to disk and is cleared after 5 minutes or on application exit.
4. Tune Proxy Server
The Tune proxy server is hosted on Cloudflare Workers. It processes rewrite requests and forwards them to OpenAI.
The proxy server logs operational metadata only: timestamp, device ID (anonymous UUID), response status code, token count, and latency. No user text content is logged.
The device ID is a randomly generated UUID stored in your config file. It is not linked to your identity, email, or any personal information.
Rate limiting is enforced per device ID to prevent abuse.
5. Analytics and Telemetry
Tune does not include any analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind.
The application makes no network requests other than:
- Rewrite requests to the Tune proxy server.
- License validation requests to Lemon Squeezy (when activating or validating a license).
- Update checks via the Tauri updater (checks for new app versions).
The marketing website (this site) may use standard web analytics. This is separate from the desktop application.
6. Third-Party Services
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | Text rewriting (via Tune proxy) | Selected text content (transient, not stored) |
| Lemon Squeezy | License management and payments | Email, payment info (managed by Lemon Squeezy) |
| Cloudflare | Proxy server hosting | Operational metadata (no text content) |
| Tauri Updater | Application updates | App version, platform |
7. Accessibility Permissions (macOS)
On macOS, Tune requires Accessibility permission to simulate keyboard shortcuts (⌘+C for copy, ⌘+V for paste).
This permission is used exclusively for clipboard operations during the rewrite flow.
Tune does not use Accessibility permission to monitor, record, or transmit any keyboard input, screen content, or user activity.
8. Data Retention
Text content: Not retained. Processed in memory and discarded.
Configuration: Retained on your device until you uninstall Tune or manually delete the config directory.
License data: Retained until deactivation or uninstall.
Proxy server logs (operational metadata only): Retained for 30 days for abuse prevention, then deleted.
9. Data Deletion
Uninstalling Tune removes the application binary.
To fully remove all local data, delete the Tune configuration directory.
To remove your license key, use the deactivation option in Settings before uninstalling, or delete it from your OS credential manager manually.
To request deletion of proxy server logs associated with your device ID, contact emesjay97@gmail.com.
10. Children's Privacy
Tune is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
Continued use of Tune after changes constitutes acceptance.
